Official statement of 1933: "The squadron of General Balbo took off from Lisbon at 7.10 am (Italian time) followed by 7.15 from General Pellegrini's squadron and, a few minutes later, from the others. the twenty-third unit. At 8.23 the Squadra flew over Capo San Vincenzo heading for Gibraltar. At 10.10, Balbo launched the following radio message from his equipment to the crews: Comrades, greet the Atlantic, now stern, and wish to re-cross it in flight on tricolor wings ... At 11.37 am the Squadron flew over Adra, in the Almeria region. At 12.5 a radio message, launched from the apparatus of General Balbo, announced that the seaplanes flew over Capo di Gata and that due to the contrary wind that had obstructed the flight since the start, the Squad was one hour late 'expected time. At 1.12 pm, the first device flew over Cape Palos and the Squadron left the Spanish coast heading for the Balearics; at 13.40 it was already on the island of Formentera, the southernmost of the Balearics; at 14.8 it flew over the islet of Cabrera, south of Majorca, and it was aimed at Sardinia. At 4.40pm, the Squadron flew over Porto Torres, all paved. An overwhelming crowd filled the streets, the pier, and the bathing establishment. With special trains and vehicles, thousands and thousands of people were eager to offer their first farewell, in the sky of the Gulf of Asinara, to the heroic transactors. In Santa Teresa, the most advanced point of Sardinia, the whole population of Gallura had gathered to admire the passage. From Santa Teresa we could clearly see the Corsican coast crowded with people waiting for the passage of the Atlanteans. At 6.30 pm 22 the general Balbo's seaplane drew to the "Carlo Del Prete" hydrofoil, followed at short intervals by all the other seaplanes."
