Official statement of 1933: "The second Atlantic Air Squadron, under the command of General Balbo, who left at 2:25 pm (Italian time) from Cartwright, happily sank in total at Shediac at 19.37 Greenwich (20.37 Italian time), at short intervals Thousands of citizens from all the neighboring regions witnessed the ditching.The city took on the festive aspect for the occasion.The houses, the public buildings are all flanked with the British and Italian colors.
