From l'Ala d'Italia 1933: "He was born in Lerici (Spezia) on August 16, 1902. After earning his diploma as a long-time captain, he left the Accademia Naval Accordion Ensign and embarked on the RR. Destroyers. Admitted to the Portorož School of Piloting, he obtained a military pilot's license in 1926. During his stay in the departments of employment he proved to be an excellent pilot and navigator. He participated in the Transatlantic Italy Air Cruise Brazil and for this enterprise he was promoted to an exceptional choice to the rank of Captain."

From l'Ala d'Italia 1933: "He was born in Calizzano (Savona) on June 20, 1903. He obtained the civil patent on October 6, 1925 and the military one on January 4, 1926. He was transferred to the High Seas Sailing School on May 25, 1931."
