From l'Ala d'Italia 1933: "He was born on February 24, 1902. He graduated in long-time captain in 1920. In 1921 he was admitted to attend the course for Complementary Officers of R. Marina and in 1922 he left the Naval Academy of Livorno with the rank of ensign. In 1923 he participated in the first competition of the R. Aeronautica and in 1924 he was appointed military pilot. In September - November 1925 he took part in the Cruise in Northern Europe under the command of the late Mad-dalena. In 1927, during an escort flight to land appliances from Italy to Libya, he was forced to ditch his hydro-steering wheel in the central Mediterranean. After four nights and four days he reached a sailing ship. For this action the silver medal was decorated with aeronautical value. He participated in the flight en masse across the South Atlantic Ocean deserving for this the gold medal for aeronautical value."

From l'Ala d'Italia 1933: "He was born in Molfetta on March 31st 1902. In 1921 he obtained the diploma of long-term captain. He was named Lieutenant of Artillery Complement in 1924. He was a military pilot on January 4, 1926. After becoming a hunter he became a flight instructor in the hunting school."
