From l'Ala d'Italia 1933: "He was born in Pedana (Istria) on 15 February 1901. In 1920 he obtained the diploma of long-time captain at the Nautical Institute of Trieste. He attended the official training course of Vascello's Complement at the Naval Academy of Livorno, in the year 1922. At the end of the course - October 1922 - following a request, he was assigned as a pilot student at the Scuola Idrovolanti in Taranto where he obtained the military patent in 1923. He was promoted to Captain in July 1930."

From l'Ala d'Italia 1933: "He was born in Ragusa on October 28, 1903 from Zaratini parents. He completed his studies in the Italian schools of Zadar, where he obtained a high school diploma. A 16-year-old Rijeka Legionnaire, he served in the Battalion «F. Rismondo »and took part in the fathers of arms of Christmas 1920, after which he was imprisoned. As soon as he was free he worked in organizing the first Combat Bundles in Zadar, and in the fascist ranks he actively fought as a squadrist until September 1922, when he was called to arms. Appointed a lieutenant of the Bersaglieri in July 1923, he served in this body for about a year and then became part of the R. Aeronautica. After the appointment of a seaplane pilot, in February 1926 he was assigned to the employment departments."
