Gen. di Brigata Aerea | Pellegrini | Aldo | On concession of the AM Historical Office in Rome | From l'Ala d'Italia 1933: "Aldo Pellegrini is from Bologna. He is forty-five years old, having been born on 28 August 1888. He entered the Naval Academy of Livorno in 1906 and came out of Ensign in 1910. From there his passion and his profound competence with the problems of the sea. As a naval officer, he made the Italo-Turkish war in 1911 and 1912. He was a lieutenant of a vessel when the great war broke out, and he felt immediately attracted by the aviation that was taking its first steps. He patented a military pilot in June 1915 and was assigned to command seaplane divisions operating under the Navy. He distinguished himself in brilliant warfare operations that required courage, coolness and technical skills. He had a bronze and two silver medals for military valor. He remained in the ranks of the Navy until 1924 reaching the rank of Captain of Corvette. Then he finally passed to the Air Force and in March 1925 he was promoted to Lieutenant Colonel. Two years later he was a Colonel of choice; in 1929, at the absolute choice, General of the Air Brigade. Chief of Cabinet from August 1926 to October 1929 demonstrated excellent political and diplomatic qualities. Dead Magdalene was sought who could take its place as Commander the School of Air Navigation on the high seas or Alturiera School as it is simply called Orbetello. The choice was unanimous, spontaneous: Pellegrini. The General sailor gave all of himself to the School, according to the directions of the Minister, in two years - May 1931, May 1933 - which required all his expertise, all his enthusiasm, all his passion. Orbetello's pupils have learned from his five decades of maritime experience how he obeys the Chief who commands a double ocean crossing. During the cruise the general Aldo Pellegrini had the second command, and his splendid qualities are still shined." |
