From L'Ala d'Italia del 1933: "He was born in S. Terenzio (Spezia) March 13, 1902. A long-time captain graduate in 1928 he sailed in the merchant navy until 1922 in which he was called to arms. He was appointed Ensign in 1923. In 1925 he entered the R. Aeronautica. He took part in the Italy-Brazil Transatlantic Air Cruise, and for this enterprise he was promoted to an exceptional choice to the rank of Captain."

From L'Ala d'Italia del 1933: "He was born in Corfinio (Aquila) on 12 September 1903. In 1922 he was fired at the Istituto Tecnico di Aquila. After serving as an Infantry Officer, he entered Aeronautica in December 1924. After his appointment as a seaplane military pilot in August 1926, he was assigned to the employment departments."
